Fine Quality Japanese Sencha Kagoshima Gyokuro

Kagoshima, a prefecture on the southern tip of Japan’s Kyushu island, runs along the Kagoshima Bay coast and includes a chain of smaller islands to the southwest. The area is known for its subtropical climate, hot springs, volcanoes and national parks. Sakurajima is an active volcano surrounded by old lava flows. Kagoshima refered as Hawaii of Japan.

The shrubs grow in the shadow of broad-leaved trees and are covered with bamboo mats two weeks prior to plucking. The “shadow tea” develops less tannic acid and the fine regular leaf has a deep green and slightly shiny color. A noble strong flavor with a hint of sweetness.
